Skeleton Sam
As the only member of the house to have yet to experienced the truly unique and incredible sensation of the sport of skeleton down the Olympic Whistler Sliding Centre track, it was only a matter of time before we managed to get Sam into a public session. It's hard to truly convey the speed and force that the sled flies down the track. Having done it several times now at work, I know full well how intimidating it is lying on a sled, face first with your head centimeters off the ice as you reach speed's just under 100km's per hour. Needless to say, it is unlike anything you've ever done. Yet Sam was unflinching and bravely stepped up to the plate to be pushed down the fastest sliding track in the world, and one of only 16 on the planet. With G forces of between 1 and a half and 2 and a half times your body weight thrusting you down against the track and you pick up speed exponentially, you are totally at the mercy of the track and your sled but after 30 seconds of mayhem, you're cruising up the braking incline and ready to do it all over again. Sam showed incredible form to clock in a 97.4 km/h top speed on her first run, the 6'th fastest time of the day. Her second was a little bumpy but she still managed a 93km/h speed after 'ping-ponging' the shortwalls on the way the breaking stretch. Suffice to say she absolutely loved it and wants to go again...

We Didn't Start the Fire
The Irony of dressing up like 'Gil' from Body Beat and then, in a rare show of courage and impulsiveness, attending one of the infamous nightclubs in the village for 80's night, only to be kicked out minutes later onto the frozen curb for smuggling in a hip flask of whiskey is not lost on us; least of all me as the foolhardy owner of said hip-flask, who left it lying on the bar counter.
